I wish I could wait for you.

Freeze my legs, chain my heart to the moment
in time when we were right.
When fate clouded destinies of potential for more–
A future set in stone for you and for me to waste
away in bouts of passion. Together.

My heart both laughs and grieves at the plausibility.
A fool’s journey traded for shared livelihoods
worth my Sovereignty. Unworthy dreams.
